Homemade Pampering: the beauty mask

Mother Nature has everything you need to accentuate your beauty. And, ingredients to a beauty treatment may be as close as your kitchen or your backyard. Beauty comes from taking care of yourself and loving yourself, and one way to merge both is to take time for a facial mask. It's taking time for pampering. Plus, a good mask improves the look and tone of your skin.

A mask forms a solid film on your face; hydrating the skin with a large supply of water. Masks that dry on the skin promote a rosy glow in the complexion due to three things: tightening, stimulation, and increased circulation, each promoting skin quality. When a mask is washed off, it takes dead skin with it, giving the skin a deep cleansing, as well as a smooth healthy look. It veritably "unmasks" your natural beauty. You feel better about looking better and the ritual itself creates a sense of well-being. Good masks are designed to deeply cleanse, remove dead skin cells, stimulate new skin, refine and tighten pores, and provide nourishment to the skin.

Here is a simple recipe that accomplishes all this:
Honey Lavender Rose Mask
One ounce dried rose petals
One ounce dried lavender
Honey

Grind dried rose and lavender flowers into a powder. Mix in enough honey to make a paste that will be easily applied to the skin.

Benefits and qualities of each ingredient

Honey.
Honey has powerful, wound-healing abilities; it is a humectant (draws moisture from the air to the skin). Honey is a natural skin rejuvenator and leaves your face feeling refreshed and invigorated; it is perfect for all skin types. Honey is also a natural hydrator, it has the ability to maintain and restore the normal proportion of water in the skin. Honey applied to your skin feels smooth and leaves the skin tight and firm, feeling light and clean. Because honey is acidic, it also helps rid the face of blemishes and blackheads. Honey is a great carrier for powders or ground herbs in masks, as well a perfect base for masks.

Lavender.
Lavender is used in just about every kind of skin care product, and all correctly, because lavender is so balancing. It is perfect for dry skin, normal skin, and oily skin. One of lavender's most important uses is to normalize the oil flow of the glands. Lavender stimulates the skin, but it is also universal in calming and soothing oil.

Rose.
The well known rose has been included in skin care formulations for centuries because of its delightful fragrance and its cleansing and skin-softening abilities.

Sensual aspects behind the ingredients: Honey.
The Romans believed honey endowed those who ate it with grace and elegance.

Lavender.
One of Lavenders historic uses has been an aphrodisiac. It sates both women and men.

Rose.
No other flower represents romantic love the way the rose does. Romans used rose oil lavishly in bathing, and in marriage ceremonies.
